Well, our guy, Bill Quitmeier didn't win (our minuscule straw poll gave Bill a 76% to 17% for Kathy). Instead, Kathy Dusenbury did. Now we all need to step up to help her do the best job, especially as her job impacts Parkville. The first job is to secure the Arabia Museum for Parkville. Kathy is in a unique position to help craft an outcome that will be good for our town, for Platte County, the Northland and for the entire Kansas City area. Lets all e-mail or call Kathy to offer our help.
Now, don't think the Arabia Museum is the only important thing facing our city and county. We still have the issues that Bill brought up during the campaign. We are in Platte County not Flat County, and we have no idea where Kathy stands on the important issues of uncontrolled development. Neither she, nor her campaign manager's weekly newsletter, put out any significant information on her positions. I don't really know Kathy (unlike some of the other contributors hereon), but I'll keep reporting on her here, and I hope you will keep commenting.

I think in all due consideration things went well for our country yesterday. The Arabia Museum issue is a hot one and I sincerely hope that Kathy Dusenbury and the Platte County Commission can help Parkville get this plum. As a business owner in town I know this will be good for all other businesses in Parkville.
With regard to the national election I am very happy that I can now sit down to my e-mail and not see any more toxic, racist and sexist forwarded e-mails from my friend Jay Harms. Jay seems to have been in the grip of some very persuasive wing nuts affiliated with what I call the Bushies. Jay has advised me to get over it. I replied that I got over it when W declared, "mission accomplished." I do have to say, however, that I never held out much hope for a man that can't even pronounce "nuclear" and who thought, "Brownie, you're doin' a heck of a job."
My friend Jay says that low incomers can expect, now, to have our house payments and gasoline paid for by the government. Where do I sign up?
Anyway, Missouri is no longer the bellwether state it once was. We reelected Sam "Abu" Graves and bounced Kay Barnes. We did elect Jeremiah Nixon; that was great. Nixon is one of the real, good guys. Barnes never made the connection with the people of Northwest Missouri. Her successes as mayor of Kansas City were not perceived as positives by the majority of the voters.
